Trivia Thursday!

Since I promised you this yesterday, and instead depressed you with that Jena Six story, and the Spice Girls thing didn't help, here it is, back by...well, not popular demand...more like boredom. Back by boredom!

But now we are gonna make it into a little game.

The rules : Try not using Internet help whatsoever. You have to be able to know this off the top of your head. You are on the honor system, obviously.

The prize: Um....pride?

First up: What makes something on-Broadway, off-Broadway, or off-off-Broadway?

- What makes a piece of art modern or post-modern?

- What is a dactylioglyph?

- Name three actors or actresses that are certified geniuses. They must be mainly known for acting, though.

- What composer famously suffered from triskaidekaphobia?

Reply in the comments section, and the answers will be up tomorrow!

4 brain pickings:

  1. 1. Broadway is a show that takes place on Broadway. Off-broadway is a show that, while smaller and doesn't play the big venues, still draws a crowd. I believe the cutoff is 500 seats. Off-off broadway is less than 100 seats. My sister is a theater director in NYC, so I know this crap.

    2. No clue.

    3. No clue.

    4. Danica McKellar, Geena Davis and... I think Sharon Stone, actually.

    5. Schoneberg.

  2. Oooh, I kind of know the third one. It's something to do with writing and/or carving.

I think its engraving. Possibly on to metal but I know it's engraving of writing onto a specific surface.

    Am I close?

  3. Since it is technically 'tomorrow' here are your answers:

    1. Broadway theaters are ones with 500 or more seats, regardless of being actually on Broadway. In fact, most Broadway theaters are not on that street. Off-Broadway is 100-500 seats, and off-off-Broadway is less than 100 seats.

    Winner: TK

    2. Any art made before WWI is modern; any between WWI and WWII is still kinda modern; anything after that is postmodern.

    Winner: nobody

    3. It is a person that engraves finger rings.

    Winner: Alex, lovely Alex.

    4. Also would have accepted Jodie Foster, Diane Lane, and Asia Carrera.

    Winner: TK.

    5. Schoenberg.

    Winner: TK

    Overall Winner: ALEX THE ODD!!!!

(Sorry, TK, but you should have known the fix was in.)

  4. Asia Carrera? That Asia Carrera? What an excellent use of her talents.

I'd be angry, but since the prize is nonexistent anyway, screw it. Enjoy your victory, Alex. Plus, who am I to mess with a man's woo.
